School of Biological Sciences Peer Tutoring Program SBS Peer Tutoring Program matches students needing assistance in a biology major's course with another student who has done well in the course previously and has expressed in interest in tutoring. A student does not have to be a biology major to participate as a student or a tutor. Tutors Students who have taken the course previously at UMKC and have earned a grade of A are invited to add their names to the tutoring list for that course. Peer tutors are required to keep simple records recording the date, time, course, and student being tutored. Students Students interested in receiving tutoring can access a list of tutors from this web site. The student may then contact a tutor from the list. The meeting time, place and fee charged, if any, are left up to the student and the tutor to arrange. Courses Eligible courses are biology courses and chemistry, physics and math courses required for the biology major. These include: Biology and Living, General Biology I and II, Cell Biology, Genetics, Basic Biochemistry, Human Biochemistry I and II, Human Physiology, Human Anatomy/Functional Anatomy, other upper level Biology majors courses, General Chemistry I and II, Organic Chemistry, Physics 210, 220, 240,250, College Algebra, Calculus (Biomath) I and II, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Statistics.
